GoPro Hero 8 Review

01/21/2021

A lot of GoPro fans have been waiting earnestly for the GoPro Hero 8, and its arrival seems like the best thing to ever happen to them. However, lots of features and additions have been added to the GoPro Hero 8.

The first question any GoPro fan would ask is if the new series meets their expectations. The new features are well-equipped to take more alluring pictures. An example is the inclusion of an integrated front-facing screen, which beats that of its rival DJI Osmo Action. However, the screen is not protected, which means you'd have to buy a protective screen separately at an additional cost if you want one. The new GoPro device is still very new as so this review is not based on all the trials possible for using the device.

The first thing you'd note when holding the GoPro Hero 8 device is the refined body. The body has been able to seize the crown from Hero 7 model with its polished body. It comes in black color. We are not sure if other colors would be added, but currently, it stays black.

A new blue battery powers the latest GoPro, and it gives the same amount of energy but has a higher discharge rate. It means there is a possibility you will not be able to access some features if the battery is low on power.

One of the interesting features of the GoPro 8 is the fact that having to seat the camera in an additional frame like previous models were eliminated and two folding fingers replaced it, from the base of the GoPro it was hinged out and it fits directly to whatever accessory you choose to use.

Preventing the GoPro Hero 8 from slipping off your hands, a quality rubberized finish covers much of the face and edges of the rear of the camera. The GoPro 8 is lighter than its predecessors even though it has metal materials as part of its construction materials.

It has default video presets mode which goes thus:

- Standard: records at 1080 and this is ideal for shooting slower moving subjects

- Activity: Has a resolution of 2.7k and a frame rate of 60fps. It can be used to capture intense events and fast-moving objects

- Cinematic: Records at the maximum 4k video resolution with 16:9 rather than the 4:3 standard

- Slo-Mo: HD videos with a frame rate if 240FPS are created and are ace for high-speed action.

There are four customizable options in the photo mode, and they are Photo, LiveBurst, Burst, and Night and the ability to create and store your custom settings.
