AKASO V50 Elite Full Review

05/21/2021

AKASO offers the most interesting alternatives to GoPro. With each model that the American giant brings to the market, AKASO seems to take note and get down to work to offer us a cheaper GoPro-type camera with similar benefits.

With 4K at 60 frames per second (fps) and voice control. The AKASO V50 Elite is an attempt to match its big-name rival in core specs. However, even if you accumulate several extra accessories in an attempt to woo him, you still have a long way to go.

In this article, we are going to look at the features, advantages, and disadvantages of one of its flagships: AKASO V50 Elite, a mid-range sports camera that is sold as threads and gathers a good amount of positive evaluations.

Equipped with improved water-resistant housing, this underwater camera can dive up to 131 feet deep, ready to capture every detail of your adventures. Ideal for water sports such as swimming, surfing, diving, snorkeling, etc.

Pros

- Native 4K video 60 FPS

- Stabilizer activatable in 4K

- Robust

- Voice commands

- Many good quality accessories

Cons

- Microphone, which reduces functionality to voice commands

4K Technology

Like all the latest generation models, the AKASO V50 Elite sports camera owes its image quality to 4K technology, which enables capture up to 60fps. Simply put, this is the technology used in professional motion picture cameras, resulting in pleasing and vivid picture and scene details.

You can also adjust the viewing angle to your liking, in addition to the automatic intervention of the brightness or white balance adjustment. Distortion calibration and Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) technology all contribute to high-quality graphics.

The AKASO V50 Elite Action Camera is capable of capturing the highest resolution combined with the highest frame rate seen in an action camera, 4K at 60fps. Record fast motion in crisp, clear quality.

One of the best arguments for its purchase is the powerful sensor and the chip-set that it mounts, giving the possibility of filming in native 4K at 60 FPS to enjoy the clear and fluid video.

Another of its key factors is its digital image stabilizer, capable of operating in 4K resolution (something uncommon), and which effectively solves the "rattles", vibrations and sudden movements produced by activities such as snowboarding or mountain biking.

Image Quality

The AKASO V50 Elite action camera is capable of capturing the highest resolution combined with the highest frame rate ever seen in an action camera, 4K at 60 frames per second. Record fast-moving action in crisp, clear quality.

This sports camera has a Sony IMX 078 sensor that allows you to take photos of up to 20 megapixels in JPG and RAW formats and the possibility of using 8x zoom. V50 Elite supports 8x zoom, which allows you to adjust the distance or closeness at which the subject appears in your video or photo. Press the "UP" button to activate the 8x zoom.

You can adjust the angle of view of this action camera according to your needs between wide, medium, and narrow. This sports camera also has a distortion calibration feature that offers image distortion enhancements.

As for the photo modes, you will find the classics, highlighting the burst mode, timelapse, and delay photography.

Image Stabilizer: Superb Imaging Five-axis Stabilization

Built-in Advanced Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS), your V50 Elite Action Camera predicts your movements and corrects for camera shake to deliver incredibly smooth footage. Built-in Advanced Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) enables your V50 Elite action cameras to deliver stable and smooth videos in fast-moving subjects. Image Stabilization is disabled when you select 4K 60FPS, 2.7K 60FPS, 1080P 120FPS, or all 720P video resolution.

Quite efficient digital image stabilizer to enjoy the stable, fluid, and smooth video with quite dynamic activities.

If you want it for the motorcycle/bike helmet, practice Mtb, ski or practice any other sporting activity of similar dynamism, AKASO v50 Elite may satisfy you for the solvency of its stabilizer at a low price. The most positive aspect of this section is that you can activate it in 4K.

Wi-Fi Connection

Wi-Fi connectivity provides a seamless connection for your smartphone through the AKASO DV App, so you can control this action camera from a distance. Download, play and share videos. Your creative possibilities are endless with the AKASO DV app.

Our AKASO V50 Elite action camera has an application for iOS and Android. The application allows real-time live viewing over WiFi. It also competently transfers files from the camera to the phone, although the editing options are few.

WiFi Mode is used to enable WiFi on the action cam and connect to it wirelessly (N.B. it can also be activated by holding down the shutter button for three seconds).

Touch Screen

It has a 2-inch IPS LCD touch screen that greatly simplifies its use and also has a front display that indicates which camera mode you are using at all times.

It integrates a two-inch LCD screen that has an unusual 4: 3 shape and is quite small. It is not sensitive enough for our taste; the menus require a bit of insistence to make the option we want to use at that moment work. Overall, it is a particularly pleasant product to use.

AKASO V50 Elite can be controlled remotely via the included Bluetooth remote control (useful for selfies and group shots) and also, thanks to the integrated AI voice intelligence, you can communicate with the action camera using 4 English sentences after turning on the camera: "Action Start Video" (to start recording), "Action Stop Shooting" (to stop recording), "Action Photo" (to take pictures) and "Camera Turn Off" (to turn off the action cam). It is also possible to control it from your smartphone or tablet, using the AKASO DV app, available for both Android and iOS.

What's in the box?

As you can see, it comes full of good quality accessories so that we don't have to make extra expenses.

After delivery, you will find the following items in the packaging. The first item is none other than the AKASO V50 Elite sports camera. Remote control lets you use it from a distance, when it's attached to someone other than yourself, for example. To take long-lasting shots, you have two 1050mAh lithium-ion batteries, supplied with their dedicated charger. A waterproof case is also included in the composition of the pack, to put in place during your aquatic, underwater outings, or simply in rainy areas.

A set of multiple fixings completes the set, namely a bicycle holder, a helmet holder, and another for the dashboard of your car. These brackets come with matching mounting kits. You will find a USB cable for the physical transfer of your files. For maintenance, a lens cloth is included in the package, as well as a guide to read for a quick understanding of the principles of use.

Why Should I Get a V50 Elite?

An excellent value for money sports camera for adventurers demanding with the image, but who do not want to spend a lot on GoPro models.

AKASO V50 Elite is a really good action camera, the best I have had so far, I had a lot of fun using it, the accessories included are many, including two batteries, it is well made, takes good photos, records good video and has an excellent value for money.

There is a lot of value here if you want an action camera capable of shooting at 4K 60fps. I love its tripod mount, spare batteries, and main features.

In my opinion, the AKASO 20MP 4K / 60fps WiFi Sports Camera is a real blast. It costs less than half that of the GoPro and offers the same functions, and as you have seen it records videos with very good quality. Undoubtedly, it is an ideal camera both for sports such as skiing, snorkeling, diving, surfing, as well as to carry on the motorcycle, bike, or in the car as Dash Cam. It also comes in handy to record the best memories of your vacation.
