Waterproof Action Camera for Water Sports

12/01/2020

You might want to use one of the best waterproof action cameras for water sports for your next adventure. These action cameras are designed to go wherever you want to go, or any kind of extreme water sports you want to engage in. And these waterproof action cameras are also ruggedized to protect them against harsh elements, even as well as unexpected falls.

Action cameras, unlike other types of cameras, are small and lightweight, and this makes them quite easy to stuff into your bag, as well as mounting onto a variety of things, whether it's your helmet, motorcycle, bike, skis, or even on your dog.

Moreover, Action cameras are able to capture all your activities to the fullest. And this implies that they should be able to capture exceptional footage, whether you are diving in the sea or surfing

Here are the best waterproof action cameras for water sports.

GoPro HERO Session Waterproof Action Camera (Waterproof to 10m)

Stripped down to the basics, the GoPro HERO Session is the smallest and lightest GoPro, designed to be waterproof and great for watersports. The camera's streamlined design makes it easy to be mounted on your head or chest when diving, and video quality is great underwater.

The compact size of the camera, enclosed in a skeleton case, makes it simpler to install and place than ever before. The camera can be rotated to the correct orientation inside the frame and this, combined with the auto orientation feature, ensures that your video is always the right way up, which can be a big time-saver when it comes to editing.

You can connect your camera with your iOS or Android phone using the GoPro app to access the full range of shooting modes and settings.

The visual quality of the video is outstanding, with vivid colors and sharp detail. The lens offers the typical fisheye perspective, which can help to create a wide panoramic image.

AKASO Brave 7 LE (Waterproof to 40M with case)

AKASO Brave 7 LE is combined with a list of decent specs. Extremely perfect for water sports due to its waterproof ability which can be up to 40m waterproof with shedding a waterproof housing. Also, its IPX7 certified water-resistant body means it can weatherproof to splash and spill without a case.

The image quality of the cameras can take videos up to 4K/60fps. The extra features of the front screen make this a very versatile camera, which is perfect for taking selfies. The user interface and ease of use would improve the camera's potential.

DJI Osmo Action (Waterproof to 10m)

The DJI Osmo Action is waterproof without a case, rated at depths of up to 36 feet (11 meters), a few feet deeper than the GoPro. It is a small, waterproof action camera with 4K video and a full-color front LCD; however, its stabilization isn't quite as good as their GoPro competition.

One of the drawbacks is that there is no tripod socket, which is not commonly found on action cameras. Luckily, there is a mounting cage in the box, which can work with the GoPro mounts. If you want to get a shot of yourself cycling or driving, for example, mounting the camera in front of you is useful, as all sorts of scenery and the environment around you can be recorded as well.

Sony Rx0 II (Waterproof to 10m)

The RX0 II is half an action camera and half a still camera. With a coating on the front of the body, Rx0 II can be waterproof down to 10 meters/33 feet without a case and is great for water sports, whether you're swimming in the pool, surfing in the seawater, shooting in a thunderstorm.

Not only waterproof super lightweight, but also dustproof, crushproof to 440 lb, and shockproof to 6.5', the RX0 II is a rugged action cam that can shoot 4K video at 30fps and Full HD footage at 120fps.

Featuring a large 1-inch sensor (just like Sony's premium compacts) that can shoot 15.3MP still images although the Zeiss Tessar T * 24 mm f/4 fixed wide-angle lens is available.

It's a little tricky to use and pricey, so it doesn't lend itself to average users, but for those looking for a rugged and waterproof camera that can take fantastic 4 K video, it shouldn't be overlooked.

Garmin VIRB XE (Waterproof to 50m with case)

The VIRB XE is Garmin's action camera in 2016. The action camera can be waterproofed without any additional case.  It is claimed that the waterproofing cam supports underwater recording deep down to 50m.  However, with its waterproof body, VIRB XE is bulkier than other action cameras.

Although there are no ratings for ingress protection (IP), the company states that VIRB XE can work at temperatures from-20C to 45C. It can also endure five stress atmospheres, equivalent to a depth of 50 m underwater. This is accomplished by a protective lock panel on the front of the unit, which would have been incredibly difficult to accidentally unlock.
