5 Best Low Light Action Camera for Night


Low light photography is a hard task to tackle. However, enough remedies are coming with the newest camera models on the line.

It's not wise to use built-in flash when doing photography in a low-light condition. What you'll get will be a photo with unwanted shadows, blurry to look at, and grainy at the same time. It'll look flat and unnatural. 

However, cameras with a range of ISO settings, image stabilization, and 4K availability can be your savior. It's observed you get better footage with ISO at 800.

A camcorder equipped with a faster lens with an aperture from f/1.4, f/1.8 to f/2.8 will enable a faster shutter speed and absorb more light.

3. GoPro Hero 7 Black

The GoPro Hero 7 Black is a well-known pocketable camera with electronic image stabilization (IS) to removes camera shake.  The cam is waterproof (up to 10m) on its own, and it offers 4K video footage at 60 FPS.

The cam also comes with a range of mounting accessories, and you can also use a remote control option with it.

Likewise, the cam isn't much different from the GoPro Hero 8, except in design and price. The Hero 7 looks similar to the Hero 6 in shape, but it captures smooth and professional footage. 

It offers 12 MP photo stills, and on burst mode, you can get it at 30 FPS. 

The cam has a rubberized design, which makes it a durable option for your outdoor adventure. Its battery can withstand more than 90 minutes on a recording, and that's something you get with the rest of its quality advantages.

The cam offers an f/2.8 aperture, which makes it a suitable camcorder for low light photography. You can also change its ISO settings to 800 to get better results during low light photography. 

4. YI 4K

The YI 4K is another cam that competes with the Sony HDR-AS50. It offers 4K video recording at 30 FPS, and you get 120 minutes of battery on a single charge. Likewise,  it's a well-made cam for low light conditions.

The camcorder uses the powerful Ambarella A9SE chipset. You can take it to the pool because it's waterproof (132 ft), and the images you get will be shake-free and of high quality, for it uses EIS.

You can use remote control for controlling the cam during biking or hiking. And you can go live on Youtube because it has built-in Wi-Fi, and it supports voice control. Its Auto Low Light will adjust settings according to light conditions. 

5. DJI Osmo Action

The DJI Osmo Action competes with the Hero 7 Black from price to its excellent features. If you're thinking of vlog, choose the DJI Osmo Action because it's cheaper and could be an amazing GoPro alternative. 

The cam comes with a fixed  f/2.8 lens aperture, which offers an amazing low light performance by allowing you to see the darker parts. It's also a 4K camera, offering ultra HD at 60 FPS and photo quality up to 12 MP.  

The camcorder will capture detailed footage, and that's what you need.

The cam has two screens. The front screen is 1.4-inch, and its rear LCD is a 2.2-inch touchscreen.

You can shoot a video for up to 100 minutes using its 1300mAh battery, and likewise, the cam weighs only 134g. However, it has a low 145 angles of view.

You can shoot 8x slow-motion footage using the DJI Osmo Action with amazing clarity. The cam is waterproof (11m).


AKASO V50 Pro SE offers superior specs and features over its predecessors, but it also stands out against competitors. It offers 4K at 60 MP, something you can't bargain for at a low price. 

Similarly, the Sony HDR-AS50 is another perfect cam for low light vlogging. It's waterproof like the V50 Pro SE. You get an Exmor R sensor that reduces grain effectively.

The GoPro Hero 7 Black comes with a better Hypersmooth IS, and it can also offer 4K at 60 FPS. On the other hand, it's waterproof on its own, something you won't find among the AKASO cameras. 

Like the rest of the cams, the Yi 4K offers value and price at the same time. It's waterproof in its case up to 132 ft, and you get IS with it. Like the rest, it uses Auto Low Light to adjust settings according to light conditions. However, it offers better battery timing. 

The DJI Osmo Action can be compatible with amazing accessories, for instance, a drone and a suite of gimbals. The cam has two screens. Thus it's a better cam for vlogging compared to the rest.
